3 Doors Down - “Citizen Soldier”
“Citizen Soldier” by 3 Doors Down is an excellent song, the music video of which depicts an American soldier through a number of phases of American military history, including the American Revolution (I fired the shot that started a nation) as well as World War II and the current wars in the desert. The song can be summed up by one of the music video’s parting words, “We are Free because of the Brave.” A little late for Veteran’s day, though.
In This Moment - “Forever”
The new single from In This Moment off of their latest album The Dream. Almost a complete 180 from even the “Beautiful Tragedy”, with nearly the whole album, save the end of it, using mostly clean vocals. Vocalist Maria Brink’s clean vocals have improved drastically since the last album, allowed In This Moment to base an album almost completely off of them. The entire album is great in a way apart from the first, and really not comparable in an “apples and oranges” kind of way.
Scar Symmetry - Morphogenesis
The latest single from melodic metal band Scar Symmetry, with “Morphogenesis” off of the latest album, Holographic Universe, the last album that will feature lead singer Christian Älvestam, as he left the band shortly after the release of this video and was replaced with two vocalists. This song is yet another example of the incredible vocal range this man has and it won’t be hard for him to find success in another band.
Halo Music Videos
This videos are just the audio of different songs (Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” and Linkin Park’s “In The End”, respectively. The Bring Me to Life song is kind of a strange audio for the scenes from Halo, and In the End isn’t too much better, but it seems to fit the Halo scenes a bit better.
Code Monkey
This video is a user-made music video using the song “Code Monkey” by Jonathan Coulton. Sad to say, this video is as good as the G4 tv show of the same name (Code Monkeys, imagine that). It’s hard to believe that some critics think that Code Monkeys is as good (some think it’s better) than South Park, and more offensive. Hm… but, as for the video. The pictures (from Kingdom Hearts) are supposed to be representative of the lyrics, but for the most part I don’t see it.
A Millie Afrocolombia Version
Hm, this is a toughie. From what I can gather, it is just a (free style?) rap session that takes place outside of the United States (Columbia) even though the rapper is sporting the NY hat that has all but come to symbolize the rap scene on the East Coast as opposed to the LA of the West Coast. From what I see in the video and the way he is looking at me like I owe him money, I’m guessing the song isn’t about world peace and racial harmony.
Third Eye Blind AMV
I feel like adults (more specifically, parents) need to start keeping their cameras under lock and key, possibly hidding them away from children on a shelf higher than the gun shelf and in a box so secure you could detonate C4 on it and you still won’t get inside of it. The AMV part isn’t that bad (considering most of it isn’t even an AMV), but the part with the people lip syncing to the song? That needs to be taken care of it. The government needs to do something about camera accessibility to minors.
Evanescene - Bring Me To Life Lip Sync
The audio doesn’t sync up with the video, it’s two guys lip syncing a duet, and one of them is wearing a jersey. It’s perfect. It may not be perfect, but the foreigners HAVE to be reminiscent of a video that surfaced a while ago. As for the video, well… terrible, what else can I say. But, it did one great thing by jogging my memory. Look familiar?
Avril Lavigne - Slipped Away
There isn’t much you can do to make two characters who run around in their video game with Disney characters even gayer, but I guess somebody had to give it a shot. What about if they were to add Avril Lavigne music to a bunch of pictures of those two, and literally nothing else? They hit the nail right on the head. Such a beautiful story about (too close of a) friendship, but… it sucks.
Scrappy - We Smoke Good
The voices of this song remind me of the midget from the “With Apologies to Jessie Jackson” episode of South Park. It makes me laugh just thinking about two midgets rapping. It always brings a smile to my face when I see the LA Dodgers symbol. Maybe they’ll get back there in 2009? That is if they empty their bank accounts to please Manny Ramirez - he can’t take on the entire Phillies team by himself.
