A recently added youtube video aptly named “speed-painting sonic the hedgehog” depicts artist Dan Morris using photoshop to compeltely draw Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog. The drawing itself, and the painting that follows it, is done flawlessly and the end-result is a great depiction of Sonic. Strangely enough, the video itself (which is sped up to 1:39) is put to Michael Jackson’s “Smooth criminal”, a very strange choice. The only criticism I would give of the video, not the drawing, is that there is no time lapse clock to show how long it took in real time to complete that. Though it doesn’t really matter how long something takes when the result is that good, but I would be interested to see how much time he took, whether he sat trying to steady his hand for long periods of time. A clock at the bottom right hand of the screen (or anywhere for that fact) would also help to see if there was any editing done to the video. All in all, a great job and interesting to watch.
