The underground street racing scene has been a popular hit among many since its spike in popularity around the late 90’s. The intelligent director Rob Cohen took this new phase in the automotive industry and capitalized by directing a highly popular movie “The Fast and the Furious” in 2001. The inevitable duo of Dom Torretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian Spilner (Paul Walker) made for a very entertaining movie with a great plot. Since then there have been two less popular movies. 2 Fast 2 Furious was more of a movie built around a plot of a police bust instead of focusing more on the core of street racing and the cars. This hurt the movie and its popularity. A third try at the movie was not as popular either as the main character Brian Spilner (Paul Walker) was not even present in the movie. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift was written upon the even newer phase of drifting, which is also known as the highly popular event currently in Japan which has been evolving into the United States over the years.
Look out next summer in 2009 for the fourth installment to the franchise. Fast & Furious will have the four main characters back from the original installement. This will be the first time since the original “The Fast and the Furious” that they will be back together. When crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex con Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him. From convoy heists to precision tunnel crawls across international lines, two men will find the best way to get revenge, and push the limits of what’s possible behind the wheel.
