Family Guy - Osama Bin Laden
Most people have seen the Family Guy clip that provides the opening sequence of this video. It is one of the funnier opening scenes in a show that has drastically gone downhill since its first few years. Taking multiple hilarious fan-favorite clips from one of America’s best current tv shows and putting them all to a beat, the song flows extremely well and it is surprisingly funny to watch. If you like hip hop or these types of videos, I would suggest this one. I found it funny to watch and though the idea isn’t completely original, it performs the idea fantastically. It doesn’t look like it should work, but for some strange reason it does.
Underground War Instrumental
The embedding of this video has been disabled by the user (killarmy101), but you can find the link to the video here.
There is not much to this video. It is a home-made hip hop instrumental, but overall it seems very run-of-the-mill, like it was formed from a cookie cutter. There just isn’t enough diversity in these beats (I know I know, it uses a synthesizer and cymbals!) to make it seem special in anyway. Personally, this is just a drop in the ocean that is very far from being short on beats, and this one just doesn’t measure up to other instrumentals.
Club Penguin Glitch
I don’t know what the hell this is about. There is supposed to be some sort of glitch, but the only thing I see is a stupid looking penguin in sun glasses with the mouse cursor rolling over and over on “Walk Your Pet”. What the hell is the glitch? Believe you me that this is one hell of a wasted 44 seconds should you chose to accept it, Mr. Bond. Why the hell doesn’t anyone register their hypercam?
Runescape Destroy
I’m not sure what this video is trying to accomplish. From the impression I got, it is a program/website that temporarily defaces the name of Runescape. I don’t really like Runescape, but “defacing” its name in the manner that is show… that is, pretending to chainsaw and throw 3D Worms nuclear bomb graphics at it that only you can see while you giggle to yourself thinking you ‘pwned’ them… just seems overtly pointless to the point that it becomes mind numbing. There’s no audio to go with the video, and it just appears as unfunny and an overall boring video.
The Prowlers - Hands of Misery
The audio of this video is better than most unprofessional live performances you’ll see, but the music itself has a few too many faults to it. The guitar rifts sound alright but are ultimately not very original sounding and sound like a reminiscent splice of old guitar rifts. The guitar rifts, perhaps, are indeed the best part of the song, as the vocalist is nothing special and the so-so rhythm guitar rifts eventually lead into an uninspiring solo that goes on for way, way too long. The solo doesn’t have a good amount of range until the latter part of the solo, when the sound starts to become stale and wear out. The lead guitarist does show skill and potential, it’s just not captured in what appears to be lackluster songwriting.
Hairstyles for 2009
Contrary to popular belief, being a homosexual foreigner does NOT make you innately savvy to fashion sense. Who know? As this [Aussie?] goes over different hairstyles he rehearsed with his younger sister just minutes before going on his webcam, you just have to sit and wonder… is he serious? Now, I realize it’s supposed to be ‘funny’ (which, naturally, it isn’t), but… really? There’s actually nothing really amusing about this video or the person in it, and trying to gain attention be being eccentric doesn’t go nearly as far as it used to (even a few years ago - that’s called progress). Just a bad video.
Days on the Ruin
This could have been a fairly good video if this band had a vocalist. As an instrumental song, the guitar-work is just not nearly good enough to stand on itself. The song relies primarily on the rhythm guitar, and without an outstanding lead guitarists, there’s just little room for mediocrity when you want to produce a song that is solely instrumental. It is not a bad start, but to me this seems like a song that is unfinished and still has more to be written to it. Find a vocalist and songwriter.
Kayne West - Love Lockdown Remix
I’m not really too fond of this video. I don’t think that the remix is a good one, because it’s just not comparable to the original version. The video itself is also stale, and just shows off a bunch of pictures of the rappers involved in the song, and without actually having a good video aspect, it just takes away a lot from the video that can’t really afford to have any aspects taking away from it. Just not my taste.
Whitney Houston and Timbaland Remix
I’m not sure how much is different in terms of the music aspect of this song. I don’t know if it is the music that is remixed or just the video that takes parts from different videos and splicing them all together. The video itself is pretty well done, with the vocals actually matching up with the mouth movements for a change. For Whitney Houston fans, I’m sure they will like watching this video as it comprises from a large number of different performances.
Hellsing Animated Music Video
Eh… I’m not quite sure how well Hellsing goes with German techno music. It just doesn’t click for me. If you listen to the soundtracks that Hellsing put out (Raid and Ruin), the tracks seem to be (jokingly or satirically) uplifting. They are surprisingly upbeat for the anime that they represent, but I don’t think that should necessarily carry over into an AMV. The video itself just doesn’t seem as fast pace as it needs to be to keep up with a techno beat, so I thought a slower, heavier song would have been far more appropriate if you had to choose audio from something other than the soundtracks.
